Why dashboards stall

A dashboard earns its keep when someone changes what they do because of it. Most Power BI rollouts stop one step short of that: the numbers are correct, the visuals are clean, and nobody owns the decision the report is supposed to trigger.

Three things we change first

1. One metric per screen, not twelve

Performance analytics works when a viewer can state the headline in a sentence. Everything else on the page exists to explain that one number.

2. A named owner for every KPI

Business intelligence tools do not create accountability on their own. Put a person's name against each metric and the review meeting changes character immediately.

3. A defined action threshold

Decide in advance what number triggers what response. Predictive analytics is far more useful when the team has already agreed what they will do when the forecast moves.

If a report cannot change a decision, it is documentation — not analytics.

Where to start

Pick the one recurring meeting where people argue about whose numbers are right. Rebuild that single view properly, agree the owners and thresholds, and let the result make the case for the wider digital transformation programme.
